Offering you a complete choice of products which include power operated collet chuck, open center power chucks, open center power chuck, power operated angular jaw face clamping chuck, stationary power chuck and front operated self contained chuck.
Designed as a low cost alternative to Power Chucking Systems, these chucks are used for machining work pieces that cannot be chucked optionally in power operated jaw chucks. They are ideal for machining parts that are susceptible to deformation or surface damage or components that require high speed machining. They are equipped with a lubrication facility that ensures a long, trouble free life. These chucks have a self-adjusting ability, which can automatically accommodate small variations in the diameter of the bar throughout its length. Since they operate within a defined axial travel in both directions, major change of stroke control is not required for changing from a lathe chuck to a collet chuck. Since there is no end movement of the work piece while gripping, in these dead length collet chucks, the second operation work can be accurately located endwise. They can also be equipped with steel or rubber flex collets, on request. Manufactured from high-grade alloy steel, all the sliding surfaces of these chucks are hardened and ground for accurate running and long service. All collet chucks can be supplied with standard cylindrical recess mounting or with short taper mountings. Other spindle mountings are possible with the use of an adaptor plate.
KITAGAWA Chucks are more popular for the quality and consistent accuracy. Manufactured from high-grade alloy steel, all the sliding surfaces of these chucks are hardened and ground for accurate running and long service. Standard hard and soft jaws can be replaced with special hard and soft jaws for chucking different components. These compact and sturdy chucks offer better grip together with high repeatability. Also stable gripping power at higher speeds makes these chucks ideal for CNC applications. These chucks are activated by rear mounted hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders via the draw bar / draw tube passing through the spindle bore. Since it is important that the cylinder should provide the correct operating force to match the chuck, the supply of line pressure to the cylinder should be adjusted accordingly. Each base jaw is provided with a lubricating nipple. These chucks are offered both in two-jaw and three-jaw versions.
Manufactured from high-grade alloy steel, all the sliding surfaces of this chuck are hardened and ground for accurate running and long service. Standard hard jaws and soft jaws are provided for chucking the special components. The Wedge design of the chuck has a self-locking feature, that prevents accidents and it does not loose its gripping power even at cutting loads. Each base jaw is provided with a lubricating nipple to ensure long and trouble free life. Not only are these chucks compact, rigid and light in weight, but they also offer a powerful grip along with high repeatability. They are ideal for high speed chucking, bar chucking, universal machining and especially suitable for CNC machines. These chucks are activated by rear mounted hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders via the draw bar passing through the spindle bore. Since it is important that the cylinder should provide the correct operating force to match the chuck, the supply of line pressure to the cylinder should be adjusted accordingly. Special chucks with large bore (approx. 15% larger) can also be supplied for higher speed and gripping force.
These chucks have been specially developed for secondary operations of components where the perpendicularity has to be maintained with reference to the pre-machined sureface. These rigidly constructed chucks, are exceptionally ideal for machining work pieces such as engine blocks, gear box, pumps compressor and turbine housings, automobile components, connecting rods etc. The face clamping jaws are mounted on a compensating spider to accommodate any irregularities that may exist on the clamping surface. It averages out the errors of primary operations for improved quality. Either a pneumatic or a hyrdaulic cylinder can activate this chuck. While the chuck mounting details on the machine spindle, the weight, clamping and overhand details depend upon the component to be machined.
Thease chucks are exclusively designed for drilling machines, milling machines and vertical CNC machining centers. The compact construction of these machines provides maximum working space, which allows inspection of components in clamped or unclamped positions. These chucks with a built-in cylinder can be operated pneumatically or hydraulically with a flexibility of using in vertical positions. While a hand operated direction control valve is provided for actuation, a foot operated valve is also supplied for operator convenience. The total steel construction of the chuck provides maximum strength and rigidity. The hardened and ground sliding parts ensure wear resistance. While ordering customer must mention their requirement of whether hydraulic or pneumatic
These self-contained power chucks have been designed for machining of bar stocks, pipes and flanges. The chucks are activated by a built-in cylinder, which eliminates drawbar/drawtube, thus keeping the bore free. The compressed air is fed into the chucks through the profile seals only when the chucks are in a stationary condition. The compressed air actuates the piston rod through the non-return safety valve. The movement of the jaws is controlled by the force acting on the piston that is transmitted to the base jaw by the chucking piston through the wedge systems. On completion of the chucking operation, the pressure is maintained by the nonreturn safety valves.
The Salient Features Of The Self-Contained Chucks Are:
Auto Indexing Chucks, have been specially designed, to machine components like universal joint bodies, spiders, gate valve bodies, hydraulic fittings etc., which need machining on 3 or 4 sides to be carried out in one set up. This way, these chucks avoid time consuming set up times for each operation or special purpose machines. Clamping, indexing, locking and opening of the chucks are performed hydraulically to a preset programme. Idle 0 0 time is considerably reduced, by indexing the component through 4 x 90 or 3 x 120 without stopping the machine.
These chucks locate the bevel gear in reference to the pitch-line of the teeth, thereby providing a high degree of concentricity and accuracy. The angular moving jaws clamp the gear against the butting surface. They even average out the errors of primary operations for improved quality. The modular design enables the length of the arm and height of the jaws to be altered easily, thereby allowing the chucks to accommodate various sizes of components. If required, these chucks can also be supplied with self-contained air cylinder and 90 swivel face clamps can be used instead of angular movement face clamps. While the chuck mounting details depend on the machine spindle, the weight, clamping and overhand details depend upon the component to be machined.

Power Operated Swivelling Jaw Face Clamping Chucks
These chucks have been specially designed for machining of components by clamping them on the face. The large swivel angle facilitates easy loading and unloading of the components. The swiveling jaws are mounted on compensating spider. The modular design enables the length of the arm and height of the jaws to be altered easily. These features impart a lot of flexibility in work holding and also offer versatility at a low cost. All the sliding parts are provided with lubricating nipples and are guarded against swarf and ingress of dirt to ensure a long trouble free life. Either a pneumatic or a hydraulic cylinder can activate this chuck. While the chuck mounting details depend on the machine spindle, the weight, clamping and overhand details depend upon the component to be machined.
These concentric chucks, remarkable for their gripping power and adaptability, are designed to deal with all concentric work and every type of irregular work within the capacity of the respective sizes.
The advantages offered by these chucks are:
High ratio of gearing used ensures maximum gripping power
Strength of the chuck is due to the fact that there are no jaw slots running through the periphery of the chuck. Scrolls and pinions are made of special chrome nickel steel and heat-treated. The collar screws holding the sector plates to the body are of hardened steel and take all the bursting stress at the face of the chuck. The solid rim of the chuck body prevents outward movement of the sector plate and the large dowels prevent the angular movement.
Durability is attained by the use of the highest grade of materials, correct heat treatment and refinements in design.
Accuracy is based on the hardened and ground surface of the scroll and sliding shoes operating the jaw carriers. Accurate location of jaws on the jaw carriers is assured by precision machining of the serration on mating surfaces.
By removing the jaws, the chuck body can also be used as a faceplate. Manual Cam Operated Coventry Concentric Chucks.
These Ball Fulcrum Chucks are ideal for machining of forgings and castings. They are fully sealed against dust and chips. Unlike the transverse sliding movement of jaws in Wedge or Lever type chucks, the jaws of these chucks swivel on a ball fulcrum. 0 The design permits the chucks to be used for internal gripping by rotating the base jaws by 180 on its fulcrum. The radial movement of the base jaws not only transmits the gripping force, but also pulls the job towards the end stops. Which ensures proper resting of job.
It is well known that, as the working speed is increased, the gripping force of the chuck gets reduced due to the centrifugal force that grips the work piece externally. The working speed may then reach a point when it will no longer be safe to work at that particular speed. Keeping this factor in mind, AIRTECH has designed WHCB chucks. These chucks have been provided with a centrifugal balancing system that compensates the centrifugal force of the base jaws.
This compensating force is produced by reversing the centrifugal force of the counter weight. Manufactured from high-grade alloy steel, all the sliding surfaces of these chucks are hardened and ground for accurate running and long service. Each base jaw is provided with a lubricating nipple to ensure long and trouble free life. Since they have been designed for ultra high-speed operations, these chucks are ideal for the latest generation of cutting tools and machines.
These chucks have approximately twice the jaw stroke compared to the Airtech WC standard chucks. Hence they are used for chucking comparatively irregular shaped components. These chucks are activated by rear mounted hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders via the draw bar passing through the spindle bore. Since it is important that the cylinder should provide the correct operating force to match the chuck, the supply of line pressure to the cylinder should be adjusted accordingly. Each base jaw is provided with a lubricating nipple. These chucks are offered both in two-jaw and three-jaw versions
Chucks are manufactured from high grade alloy steel. Three jaw wedge style power chucks deliver up to 20% more speed, gripping force and bore size when compared to conventional chucks.
These chucks work on the principle of master jaw collets. their interchangable collets exert both radial force and axial pull, thus drawing the job against the face of the chuck. They are desgned to be stable and maintain accuracy for a very long time. The jaw guides are cylindrical in shape with perfect lapping fit. All these features permit the chucks to operate at very high speed without any appreciable loss in grip due to centrifugal forces. The large jaw stroke and easy isertion and removal of jaw inserts make these chucks very versatile. However, like the collet chucks, these chucks are useful only for external gripping. These chucks are excellent for gear blank turning , bearing race turning, where floor to floor time are measured in seconds.
These manual indexing chucks with power clamping are suitable for machining jobs at 90 , 120 , 180 or any other angle in one clamping. Once the job is clamped, the operator only has to pull and push a lever to index for the next operation. The job need not be de-clamped for indexing. The jaw pads are designed to suit the shape of the component. These chucks are ideal for machining automobile transmission cross, hydraulic fittings and valve bodies.
